Abstract
- 1.1. Study of a case of congenital hemolytic icterus cured by splenectomy with the following unusual features is reported: (1) Normal red blood cell fragility; (2) minimal microspherulosis; (3) the presence of liver damage improved by splenectomy; and (4) the occurrence of an unusual postoperative hemolytic crisis.
- 2.2. The hypotheses on etiology are reviewed.
- 3.3. The effects of splenectomy and the reasons for failure in certain instances are considered.
