Abstract
A case is reported in which a patient had an extensive tumor in both the lingual and
sublingual regions, with myxedema as the predominant picture. The condition cleared
after the administration of thyroid extract. The importance of knowing the patient's
metabolic rate is stressed. The hemorrhage incidental to biopsy was so severe as to
require electrocautery for its control.
The value of x-ray films in the lateral plane of the tongue base region, is demonstrated.
